My Artwork - December 2017

I had quite a bit of contract fundraising work to do during December, and it impacted my painting productivity a little bit. I created seven original paintings, including one commissioned custom piece for my friend Kalisha that was presented to the Arizona Grantmakers Forum (it's the first painting shown in this blog post). It was really special to see my art presented to a philanthropy organization, seeing as I've worked in that field as well for so many years.

My December paintings included two acrylic on canvas pieces. Although acrylic was my medium of choice for most of my life, I hadn't used it in well over a year due to portability concerns while I was traveling. I have to admit that it felt thick, gloppy, and a little clumsy to use compared to the gouache paint I've been using. The acrylics are the last two paintings in this blog entry.

All the pieces I painted this month were inspired by the Arizona landscape, and I have to admit that December felt like a time to be inspired about Arizona. The weather has been fantastic, with highs mostly in the mid-70s, low humidity, and ultra blue skies. I'll probably be groaning about 100+ temps in about six months, but for now, I'm soaking it in.

Unlike many months, most of these pieces remain available for sale in my online shop as of the time of this posting. I also have a couple of 2018 calendars featuring my artwork remaining - you can enjoy a new piece of Teressa art for each month of the year!

Thanks for following along. I can't wait to see what 2018 brings to my artistic journey.
