Nourishing Community
Nourishing Community
This piece was created in collaboration with my dear friend Ursula Schneider, a very talented artist who resides in Vail, Arizona. It features a watercolor cardon cactus that I created, inspired by one that resides at the Desert Botanical Garden, and inkwork, lettering, and poetry created by Ursula. The poem reads:
Nourishing Community
Tall, strong, piercing defenses
Offer shelter for the vulnerable
Ubiquitous needles thread disparate dogmas
The robust can patiently endure the minimal wounds
Inflicted by the fragile
In the hope of humanity’s solidarity
This artwork measures 10x14” and is sold in a 16x20” frame with black mat. The painting was created using watercolor paint and ink on acid free, cold press 300 lb. Arches watercolor paper.
